2008 Athletic Awards Banquet
Leicester, MA - Becker College athletic director Frank Millerick hosted the annual athletic sports banquet at the Leicester Gymnasium on Wednesday May 30th. The night celebrated all 16 varsity teams and raised two banners for the 2007 North Atlantic Conference Champions Women's Tennis team and the 2007-08 NAC Champions Women's Basketball team.
Millerick also announced the institution of four individual awards. Each year the Becker College athletic department will now recognize one scholar athlete of the year, a sportsmanship award and a men's and women's athlete of the year. The surprise of the evening was when Millerick revealed that the sportsmanship award would be named after veteran associate athletic director Gene Alley.
The 2007-08 team recipients are as follows:
Male Athlete of the Year: Jeremy Rivers, men's basketball
Female Athlete of the Year: Brittany Evans, women's basketball, soccer
Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Kelly Rossitto, Volleyball, Softball
Gene Alley Award: Amanda Murphy, women's soccer
