Brown Extinguishes Blazers As Baseball Wins 7-2

Leicester, Mass.- Freshman southpaw Jheremy Brown (Agawam, Mass.) pitched eight strong innings as the Hawks defeated Elms College 7-2 in New England Collegiate Conference baseball action.

Elms jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Brian Marrero (Kendall Park, NJ) hit an RBI single to centerfield. Becker tied the game in the bottom half of the first when Keith Kandel (Fresno, Calif.) scored on a Joe Corey (Billerica, Mass.) single.

Becker scored three runs in the bottom second, capped off by a two run triple by freshman Eric Lajoie (Oakham, Mass.). Keith Kandel drove in Lajoie from third with a single right field, making the score 4-1.

The Hawks put the game out of reach in the seventh inning when they scored three runs after a two out error. Jheremy Brown pitched eight innings allowing just two runs on seven hits. Brown also struck out six Blazers to earn the win. With the win Becker improved to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in the New England Collegiate Conference. With the loss Elms fell to 5-15 overall and 1-5 in the NECC.
