Sea Gulls Sprint Past Hawks

 Leicester, Mass. - Senior running back Shelby Fisher (Baltimore, MD) ran for 186 yards and scored one touchdown as Salisbury University cruised to a 63-0 win over Becker College today at Alumni Field. Salisbury had 577 yards of total offense to 65 yards for the Hawks. The Sea Gulls improved to 7-1 on the season while the Hawks dropped to 2-5 on the year.

The Hawks received the ball and were held to seven yards on four plays and turned the ball over on downs on their own 38 yard line. Fisher had his first big play of the game with a 23 yard run on 2nd and 16 to the Hawks 10 yard line. Quarterback Ronnie Curley (Ellicott City, MD) crossed the goal line with a 10 yard run to make it 6-0. Kicker Tommy Kowalick's (Sterling, VA) extra point was good.

Becker's field goal kicker John Dinardi (East Haddam, CT) had a 38 yard field goal attempt blocked by the Salisbury front line to start the second quarter. Fisher broke free for 54 yard scamper to the Hawks' 6 yard line and scored his first touchdown two plays later. Another Kowalick extra point and the Sea Gulls had a 14-0 lead.

Salisbury started the third scoring drive from their own 41 yard line. The Hawks seemed to have them pinned down on  4th and 18 on the Becker 28 yard line but Curley found wide receiver DJ Nelson (Mullica Hill, NJ) open down the left sideline for the touchdown making it a 21-0 game.

Defensive back Greg Miletic (Cantonsville, MD) intercepted a Gabriel Prophet (Washington, DC) pass and scampered 45 yards for the touchdown. Kowalick's extra point again was good to make it a 28-0 game going to the locker room.

The second half of the game was all Sea Gulls. Salisbury scored on all three of their possessions. Curley scored his second touchdown of the game on an 18 yard rush just four minutes into the quarter and a Kowalick extra point and the game was 35-0. DJ Nelson made it a 42-0 game with a 50 yard reverse touchdown play. Back-up running back Warren Anderson (Vienna, VA) rushed for a 37 yard touchdown with a minute remaining in the third quarter to make the game out of reach 49-0.

Salisbury scored another 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Salisbury was led by quarterback Ronnie Curley who finished with 76 yards rushing 46 yards passing and two touchdowns. Running back Nick Coates (Huntingtown, MD) had 128 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.

Becker was led by Raheim Bass (Hollywood, FL) who had 7.5 tackles and John Dutchick (Vernon, NY) who had 7.0 tackles.

Salisbury returns home next Saturday when they host Wesley at 1:00pm, the Hawks travel to Maritime College for a 1:00pm kick-off.
