Field Hockey Remains Perfect In NECC


Leicester, Mass- Becker remained perfect (5-0) in the New England Collegiate Conference after an impressive 7-1 victory over Daniel Webster in women's field hockey action.

The Hawks scored the lone goal of the first half on a penalty shot from Nicole Lijana (Moorestown, NJ).

Becker blew the game wide open in the second half with three unanswered goals. Freshman Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass) got the scoring barrage started with an unassisted goal 1:29 into the half. Stephanie Dixon (Rockport, Mass) redirected a pass from Jennifer Ouellette (Merrimack, NH) into the net, making the score 3-1. Brooke Cote added her second goal of the game and sixth of the season, on another assist from Jennifer Ouellette.

Sophomore Sarah Steves (North Granville, NY) scored the Eagles lone goal 44:50 into the contest, making the score 4-1.

Freshman Morgan Gass (Avon, Conn) put the Hawks up 5-1, when she blistered a shot into the net. Jessica Provencher (Berwick, ME) and Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn) scored the final two goals for the Hawks.

Daniel Webster goalkeeper Amy Prince (Hope Valley, RI) made six saves in the loss. The Eagles fell to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the NECC.) Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, VT) made one save, as Becker improved to 8-7 overall and 5-0 in the NECC.)
