Field hockey improves to 2-0 in NECC
Leicester, Mass. - Freshman forward Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored a pair of unassisted goals as Becker College earned a 2-1 victory over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference field hockey action.
Becker (3-5, 2-0 NECC) controlled the pace in the first half out-shooting Wheelock, 7-2. Cote scored her two goals in two and a half minute span late in the first half.
The Wildcats (0-6, 0-1 NECC) rebounded in the second half getting seven shots on net. Junior Kara Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) cut the lead in half with 15 minutes to play with assists from Milbrey Hendrix (Kennett Square, PA).
Hawks goaltender Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, Mass.) ended the contest with six saves while her counterpart, Meredith Race (Marion, Mass.) made eight saves in the cage.
Becker will travel to Daniel Webster College for a 4 PM contest on Saturday, September 26.
