Leicester, Mass.- Becker College senior Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn.) scored a hat trick as the Hawks defeated Bay Path College 3-1 in New England Collegiate Conference women's field hockey action at Alumni Field.
Bay Path got the scoring started 10:06 into the contest when Deanna Flagg (Enfield, Conn.) redirected a shot from Katherine Chabot (Brookfield, Mass.) in to the back of the net. The Hawks answered back when senior Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn.) scored her seventh goal of the season on a penalty stroke, tying the game at 1-1. Sirchia scored her second goal of the game 4:14 later when she ripped a shot from the middle of the circle, beating Bay Path goalie Samantha Berrios (New York, N.Y.) blocker side.
The Hawks secured the 3-1 victory when Sirchia scored an unassisted goal with 1:22 remaining in regulation.
Bay Path Keeper Samantha Berrios made nine saves in the loss. The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the NECC.
Becker goalie Samanatha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, N.J.) turned away two Bay Path shots. The win lifts the Hawks record to 7-11 overall and 4-2 in the NECC. Becker has earned the third seed in the upcoming NECC tournament and will travel to second seeded Regis College on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 6pm.
