NASHUA, N.H.- The Rivier University Field Hockey team earned a come from behind 2-1 victory over Becker College this evening in a non-conference contest. The win improved the Raiders to 2-3 on the season while Becker falls to 0-7.
Becker got on the board early in the first half as Brittany Cormier (Danbury, CT) connected for her first goal of the season as she took home a pass from senior Michelle Griczika (Barre, MA) just 12:45 in to the game.
The resilient Raiders battled back as freshman Nicole Hauer (North Attleboro, MA) put away a loose rebound in front of the net for her fourth goal of her career to even things up at 1.
Rivier would then take the lead for good as freshman Chelsea Gomes (Epsom, NH) knocked a pass from Hauer that was able to beat Becker's senior goaltender Samantha-Jo Dikes (Little Falls, NJ) a little over five minutes into the second half. It was Gomes' second goal of the year and Hauer's second assist.
Junior Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA) backstopped the Raiders as she was able to make two saves on the three shots she saw. Dilkes was successful on 12 of 14 shots.
Rivier outshot the Hawks, 15-7 over the 70 minutes of play.
Next up for Rivier will be the Beavers of the University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon. The North Atlantic Conference game will begin a 1:00 p.m. Becker will host Wells College in their next scheduled competition on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
