LEICESTER, Mass.- Clark University defeated Becker College 8-0 in women's field hockey action Saturday morning at Alumni Field. The win lifts the Cougars record to 2-0, while the Hawks sink to 1-2.
Junior Kaylin Mulrooney (Somerset, Mass.) scored twice in the first 1:35 of the game to put Becker in an early 2-0 hole. In the seventh minute, Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill.) fed Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) for her first goal of the season to make the score 3-0. Kelly added her third goal of the season in the 11th minute to put the Cougars in front 4-0.
Clark received goals Madison Boardman (Cornish, N.H.) and Isabelle Zoeckler (Madison, Conn.) before the end of the first half to extend the Cougar lead to 6-0.
The Cougars finished off the scoring barrage with second half goals from Boardman and Maria Manning (Manchester, N.H.) to make the final 8-0.
Clark goalkeeper Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.) turned away both shots she faced to earn the victory. Becker keep Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) made 18 stops, while Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) collected a defensive save.
Both teams return to action on Tuesday, September 9 when Becker travels to Anna Maria at 4:30 p.m., while Clark heads to Nichols College at 7:00 p.m.
