Field Hockey Falls To AMCATS

LEICESTER, Mass. – Anna Maria College defeated Becker College 5-0 in non-conference women's field hockey action Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win slides the AMCATS record to 1-1, while the Hawks fall to 0-2.

Anna Maria got the scoring started 11:54 into the first half when Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) fed Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) in front of the Hawks net. The AMCATS made the score 2-0 with 1:10 remaining in the first stanza on a Dalbec backhanded a shot into the top of the Becker net.

Kayla Lapierre opened the second half with her second goal of the game after gathering a loose ball at the doorstep. Freshman Sarah Coley (Worcester, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal in the 64th minute to put the AMCATS up comfortably, 4-0. Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) completed the Anna Maria attack when she scored on penalty corner.

Becker goalie Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) made 12 saves, while Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) registered a defensive stop in the loss. Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) earned the victory after making five saves in just over 42 minutes of action. Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) came off the bench to make a save, securing the shutout.

Both teams return will hit the road for their next game on Saturday, September 5 at noon.  Becker will travel to Clark University, while Anna Maria heads to Colby Sawyer.
