LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College field hockey team lost 4-1 to visiting Wheelock College on Tuesday night at Alumni Field in Leicester.
The Wildcats of Wheelock (5-9, 4-1 NECC) got on the board in the 12th minute when senior forward Katie Frade (Dartmouth, Mass. / Dartmouth) backhanded a shot into the back right-hand corner of the goal for her 18th goal of the season.
In the 30th minute, Frade took the ball up the middle towards the Becker goal, then passed to sophomore forward Julia D'Onofrio (Salem, N.H. / Salem) on the left side for the easy score as Wheelock went up 2-0.
Just two minutes later, senior midfielder Alexandria LeBlanc (Atkinson, N.H. / Timberlane) took a shot off a corner that was put back by Frade, and the visitors went into the break leading 3-0.
The Hawks of Becker (1-16, 1-4 NECC) got on the board in the 43rd minute when sophomore midfielder Lauren Niemann (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) rebounded the shot and scored for her second goal of the season.
The Wildcats regained momentum in the 47th minute when LeBlanc fed Frade for her 20th goal of the season. The 4-1 margin would hold up for the final score.
Becker junior goalkeeper Alexis Barry (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) finished with nine saves in goal, while Wheelock junior goalkeeper Cassidy Smith (South Berwick, Maine / Marshwood) recorded five stops. The Wildcats outshot the Hawks, 17-7.
Becker will play their regular season finale on Thursday when they travel to Worcester State to play the crosstown rival Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Wheelock's regular season concludes on Saturday when they host Elms College at 11:00 a.m.
