Men's Basketball Soars Past Framingham State In ECAC Quarterfinal

Leicester, Mass.- In front of a crowd of over 400 fans, Becker College defeated Framingham State 95-71 in the Quarterfinals of the New England ECAC Championships.

In the first half, Becker went on an early 9-0 run and never looked back. The Hawks led 52-27 at Halftime. Travis Suber (Springfield, Mass.) scored 21 of his game high 34 points in the first half. The Rams struggled by shooting just over 39% from the field.

In the second half, the Rams jumped out on a quick 4-0 run before Becker called a timeout to regroup. The Rams could only close the margin to within 18, before the Hawks continued a repeat of their first half performance.  The Hawks took their largest lead of the game with 4:50 remaining when Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.) scored 2 of his 13 points, putting Becker ahead by 32.

Becker can attribute their dominating performance to fact that they outrebounded Framingham 52 to 32. Rajai Leggett and Terrance Favors (Boston, Mass.) combined for 31 points and 25 rebounds, each ending the game with a double- double. Trey Jacobs chipped in with 13 points.

Framingham State was led by Roderick Jackson (Cambridge, Mass.) and Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, Mass.) with 17 points each. The Rams finished the season with a record of 15-13.

Becker will travel to Lasell on Saturday at 6pm for the right to host the ECAC championship game.  Admission into the ECAC semifinal is $2 for all spectators.
