Senior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet) of the Becker College men's basketball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 10th, 2017. Becker freshman guard Jamir Carr (Philadelphia, Penn. / Universal Audenried) was named NECC Rookie of the Week for the same period.
Durodola stepped up this past week for the Hawks of Becker, averaging 21.7 points, 9.3 rebounds 2.7 assists and one block per game over three games. After standout performances against Worcester State and regional powerhouse Nichols, Durodola had a monster performance against Gordon on Saturday, scoring 23 points with 13 rebounds as the Hawks outlasted the Scots in overtime, 79-75.
It is the third time in four weeks that a Becker player has been named NECC Player of the Week in men's basketball.
Carr is starting to come into his own, averaging 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds this past week on 54 percent shooting from the field. The freshman had ten points with six boards and two steals in Becker's 79-75 overtime win at Gordon on Saturday, despite playing just 21 minutes.
Durodola was also named the Becker College Athlete of the Week for the same period.
Durodola and Carr will lead Becker into action on Tuesday night when they travel to Bridgewater State to take on the Bears in a 7:00 p.m. game.
