LEICESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) of the Becker College men's basketball team has been voted to the 2018-2019 New England College Conference (NECC) All-Conference First Team in an announcement by the NECC on Tuesday. Awards are voted on by NECC coaches.
Davis ends his career as Becker's all-time leading scorer since joining the NCAA, with 1876 points, far surpassing the previous record of 1699 career points set by Davis' former teammate, Samuel Durodola, at the end of the 2017-2018 season. In just his sophomore year, Davis led the Hawks to the 2017 NECC Championship, and was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player that season. In 2018, Davis was named All-NECC First Team as he led the Hawks back into the NECC finals, in the process becoming the 19th player in school history to reach 1000 career points. This year, Davis has been named the NECC Player of the Week four times, has been named Becker Athlete of the Week four times and set the school record for three-pointers made in a game with ten, surpassing his own record of nine.
Davis also holds school records in Career Three-pointers made (334), Career Free-Throws made (424), Career Free-Throw percentage (.878) and Career minutes (4063). He also came within three assists of tying the career assists record with 366.
Sophomore forward Mateus Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Colegio Pedroso e Oliveira) was named to the NECC Sportsmanship Team.
