Hawks Shutout Rams

Marlboro, Mass - Sophomore goaltender Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, NY) made 21 saves and picked up his first shutout this season as he backboned the Becker IceHawks (5-5-1) to a 5-0 blanking of Framingham State College (1-8-1) at New England Sports Center.

The team played a fast pace wide open first period, with very few scoring opportunities. The Rams were able to kill off a late hooking penalty but the Hawks kept the puck in the zone and Mike Caprio (Valencia, CA) was able to capitalize on a nifty give and go with Jeremy Narducci (Apex, NC) just ten seconds later to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room.

The Hawks broke the game open late in the second period, scoring three goals over three minutes. Freshman forward Corey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.) picked up his second goal of the year on a tip from a blast from the blue line from Narducci for a power-play goal and a 2-0 lead. Becker scored a second PP when Don Kane (Staten Island, NY) found Branden Parkhouse (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) in the right slot and he wristed one to the upper right corner past Rams goaltender Cam Gould (Nashua, NH). It was quickly 4-0 when Kane passed to a wide open Nate Sayer (Dracut, MA) in front of the net for the easy tip in.

Gould finished with 29 saves.

The Hawks made the final 5-0 when freshman Mark Lotito (Staten Island, NY) picked up his first collegiate goal at the 5:52 mark of the third period.

Te Hawks return to action after the Christmas break when they travel down R122 for the Assumption College Holiday Festival vs.  Manhattanville on December 28th at 4:35 pm.
