BURRILLVILLE, R.I. – The Becker College men's ice hockey team skated to a 4-4 tie against host Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday evening. The tie ends a four game losing streak for the Ice Hawks as their record moves to 5-14-1 (4-8-1 CCC).
After a scoreless first, the two teams combined for five goals in the second period. Nichols got the scoring started 13:57 into the period on a J.B. Baker goal. The Bison extended their lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds later when Sean Swanson netted a power-play goal.
Becker responded 34 seconds later with a Nikolas Nasby (Newberg, Ore.) goal on an assist from freshman Justin Provencher (Sudbury, Mass.) The Ice Hawks would take the lead with back-to-back goals from Brandon Morgan (Rochester, N.Y.) to make the score 3-2 after two periods.
Becker extended their lead to 4-2 when Connor Merrick (Manchester, N.H.) found the back of the net one minute into the 3rd period.
The Bison cut the deficit to 4-3 on a Hogan Davidson goal 5:16 into the period. The scored remained the same until Nichols pulled goalie Colin Brennan to add the extra attacker with 1:35 on the clock. Just two seconds later, Scott Cuthrell found the back of the Ice Hawks net, tying the game at 4-4.
Becker goalie Tyler Stepke (Mars, Pa.) made 36 stops while Colin Brennan made 31 saves for the Bison.
