NEWPORT, R.I.- Becker College fell to Salve Regina University 5-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's hockey action Saturday evening. The win lifts the Seahawks record to 12-7-2 (9-4-1 CCC) while the Ice Hawks fall to 5-15-1 (4-9-1 CCC).
Salve tied the game 3:34 into the second period on a Pat Thompson goal. Thompson then added a power-play goal with 8:50 remaining in the second to give the Seahawks a 2-1 advantage.
The Seahawks extended their lead to 3-1 on an Adam Augusta goal 2:23 into the third period. Salve then got back-to-back power-play goals from Colin Clapton to widen the lead to 5-1.
Corey Sherman (Hilton, N.Y.) netted a power-play goal for Becker with 3:55 remaining in regulation to make the final score 5-2.
Becker goalie Tyler Stepke (Mars, Pa.) registered a season-high 48 saves in a losing effort.
Becker returns to the ice on Thursday, February 9th when the Hawks host the University of New England at 7:40 p.m.
