Wentworth skates by Men's Ice Hockey, 6-1

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's ice hockey team lost 6-1 to visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday night at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

The Leopards of Wentworth (9-11-3, 7-6-3 CCC) scored first 3:44 into the game off a power play from sophomore forward Georgy Gorodetskii (Yekaterinburg, Russia / Arizona State University (NCAA Division I Independent)), who rebounded his own shot. Assists went to senior forward Jake McDonough (Marshfield, Mass. / Dexter School) and junior forward Matthew Kennedy (Mount Pearl, N.L. / Arizona State (NCAA Division I Independent)).

Still up 1-0 in the second, Wentworth scored three goals in just over three minutes to take control. First at the 5:28 mark, freshman forward Brenden Lloyd (Merrick, N.Y. / East Coast Wizards (EHL)) finished off a wrist shot into the top shelf with Gorodetskii assisting.

Then at 8:24, McDonough found the back of the net, assisted by junior forward Adam Lane (Sarnia, Ont. / Walpole Express (EHL)) and junior defender Ethan Weiss (Troy, Mich. / Brockville Braves (CCHL)). Just 11 seconds later, the Leopards took a commanding 4-0 lead when Lloyd scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Gorodetskii and freshman forward Jake Hallisey (Quincy, Mass. / Boston Advantage (T1EL)).

The Hawks of Becker (4-17-1, 2-14) broke through 23 seconds into the third when sophomore Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Texas / Rochester Ice Hawks) took the puck and scored off a solo breakaway for his fourth goal of the season.

Wentworth finished the scoring off an unassisted goal from junior forward Sean Brennan (Stony Point, N.Y. / Milton Academy) at 9:56 into the third, followed by Gorodetskii's second goal of the game at 13:10, assisted by Hallisey with 6:50 to go in the game.

Becker will play their home finale on Thursday when they host Western New England University at 7:00 p.m. Wentworth travels to Curry College for a 6:50 p.m. game.
