LEICESTER, Mass.- Senior John DeAngelis (Swampscott, Mass.) netted a game high five goals to lift Becker College to a 21-8 victory over Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action. With the win, the Hawks advance to 10-2 (6-1 GNAC), while the Falcons drop to 3-6 (2-5 GNAC). The Hawks 10th win is most in the program's history.
The Hawks wasted no time getting on the board with a goal from David Deschenes (Gales Ferry, Conn.) just 30 seconds into the game. The Hawks went on to score three unanswered goals from freshman Blake Boutiette (Burriville, R.I.), sophomore Ryan Kearney (Katonah, N.Y.), and DeAngelis.
With 5:00 left, sophomore Ryan Brown (Monroe, Conn.) put Albertus on the board with a pass from freshman Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) Freshman Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) added the second point for the Falcons minutes later with a goal assisted by sophomore Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.). Choiniere lead the Falcons' offense with three goals, while Buck followed with two additional goals.
Becker also received goals from seniors Shane Balestracci (Pawcatuck, Conn.) and Gerald Wrenn (Cheshire, Conn.), and freshmen Christopher Bell (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) and Myles White (Norwalk, Conn.).
Freshman Michael Ciarleglio (West Haven, Conn.) and Ryan Brown also contributed with a goal for the Falcons, respectively.
In net, Hawks freshman Jeffrey Candee (Madison, Conn.) held off 10 shots, while freshman Brandon Scicchitano (Norwalk, Conn.) made 18 stops for the Falcons.
Both teams will return to action Thursday, April 10 at 4:00pm. Becker will travel to Newton, Mass. to play Lasell College, while Albertus hosts Mitchell College.
