Men's Lacrosse drops opener to Regis

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's lacrosse team opened their 2018 season with a 16-7 loss to visiting Regis College on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Pride of Regis (1-1) were led by senior attacker Collin Spillane (Franklin, Mass. / Tri-County), who scored six goals for the game. Freshman attacker Brent Young (Feeding Hills, Mass. / The Gunnery) recorded a hat trick with three goals and two assists, while senior attacker AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I. / St. Andrews) scored twice. Freshman midfielder Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers) tallied one goal and four assists. Freshman goalkeeper JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H. / Campbell) recorded six saves in picking up his first career win.

The Hawks of Becker (0-1) were by freshman attacker Matthew Guerin (E. Longmeadow, Mass. / E. Longmeadow), who, playing in just his first career game, finished with four goals. Senior attacker Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) finished with two goals while senior middle Blake Gordon (East Greenbush, N.Y. / LaSalle Institute) had two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Tex. / Grapevine) recorded 12 saves.

The Hawks of Becker will be back on the field on Saturday when they play host to Mount Ida College in a 12:00 p.m. game. Regis is back in action on Wednesday, March 14th when they host Mitchell at 7:00 p.m.
