Leicester, Mass. --- The Becker College men's lacrosse team couldn't get the win on their senior day, falling to the Bulldogs of Dean College 16-4.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 0-1 in New England Colligate Conference play, while the Bulldogs move to 2-0 against NECC foes.
The Bulldogs were led by their attackman, starting with junior Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) who managed to score five goals on the Hawks. He was followed by junior attackman Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.) who contributed four goals and two assists. Also, for Dean's attackmen, Colin Hinrichs (Greenwich, Conn) put in two goals and added to his total points with two assists. Finally, senior midfielder James Lovely (Hopedale, Mass) helped the Bulldogs with five assists.
Becker College (1-12) had three players score on the night. Attackman Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.) made the most out of his senior day by scoring the first two goals for the Hawks. Senior attacker Cruz Desrochers (Malden, Mass.) scored one goal and had one assist for Becker. The last goal of the day was by the Hawks senior defenseman Nicholas Mariano (Cranston, R.I.).
Prior to the game, Chaganty, Desrochers, and Mariano were joined by seniors Blake Gordon (East Greenbush, N.Y. / LaSalle Institute), Corey Bebeau (Burrillville, R.I. / Burrillville) and Joseph Linnehan (Dedham, Mass. / Dedham) as part of Senior Day. The six were recognized by teammates, coaches, families and Becker athletics administrators for their years of contributions not only to the men's lacrosse program but to the Becker community as a whole. Although their time at Becker may be coming to a close, they will forever be part of the Hawks family.
Becker is back in action Saturday April 21 at Mitchell College with a 2:00 pm start.
