DeBrito Carries Hawks Past Anna Maria In Opener
Leicester, MA- Dircilino DeBrito (New Bedford, MA) scored two goals to help lead the Hawks to a 4-3 victory over Anna Maria on the newly renovated Alumni Field.
Freshmen Tim Howard (Paxton, MA) got things started with his first collegiate goal just 5:06 into the contest. Anna Maria would get on the board when Armen Billian (Worcester, MA) broke away on an unassisted goal, to tie the score at one all. The Hawks and AM Cats would continue their back and forth battle as Dircilino DeBrito and Anna Maria's Michael Allard (Monson, MA) exchanged goals. With score tied at two, Scott Medeiros (Assonet, MA) drove a shot into the back of the net, putting the Hawks up 3-2 at the half.
Dircilino DeBrito put the Hawks up for good with his second goal of the game. DeBrito was fed by Samuel Adjei (Worcester, MA.) Anna Maria made things close when Joshua Bernardo (Peabody, MA) deflected a shot from Armen Billian past Becker goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Ladner, BC.) The Hawks averted multiple scoring threats from the AM Cats to hold onto the 4-3 win.
