Men's Soccer Gets Kicked In OT
Leicester, Mass. - The men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to an undefeated Framingham State team.
Both teams were scoreless through the first half. Framingham got on the board 3:32 into the second half when Robert O'Doherty (Shrewsbury, MA) directed a Jonathas Goncalves (Framingham, MA) pass into the back of the net. The Hawks trailed 1-0 until Jason Gianatti (Southington, CT) rebounded a Jared Silva (Freetown, MA) shot that hit the post and drove it passed Framingham goalkeeper Greg Halle (Beaverly, MA), tying the game.
The score stayed the same through regulation. In overtime, Becker was called for a foul inside the penalty area setting up a penalty kick for the Rams. Scott Faria (Fall River, MA) lined up twelve yards out and drove the one-timer passed Hawks goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Delta, B.C) to win it for Framingham State.
Becker (2-2) will travel to Emerson on Thursday.
