Howard Sinks Raiders

Leicester, Mass.- In the first official night game at Alumni Field, the Becker Hawks defeated The Rivier Raiders 6-0.
The Hawks scored 7:48 into the game when Tim Howard (Paxton, MA.) redirected a Snjezan Telebak (Chicago, IL) pass into the back of the net. Becker added to the lead when Jeffrey Hurd (Melrose, MA) shot a pass between two Rivier defenders to set up Telebak for his second goal of the season. The Hawks remained on the attack, as Tim Howard took another Jeffrey Hurd pass and snuck it passed Rivier goalkeeper John Jarvis(St. Albans, VT) for his second goal of the game. Becker added one more goal before halftime, when Scott Medeiros (Assonet, MA) squeezed past the Rivier defense for a breakaway goal.
In the second half Dircilino DeBrito (New Bedford, MA) scored his team best 7th goal of the season, putting the Hawks up comfortably 5-0. In the 77th minute Tim Howard took a James Diossa (Central Falls, RI) passed and skipped it into the net, to complete his hat trick.
River goalkeeper John Jarvis faced 17 shots in a losing effort. Aaron Fill (Delta, B.C) and Christopher Nosek (Lancaster, MA) helped earn the Hawks their first shutout of the season. River will face another NECC opponent on Saturday, as they travel to Daniel Webster. Becker will travel to Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday for a 4 pm tilt with the Warriors.
