Men’s Soccer: Falcons get by Hawks, 2-0

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's soccer team lost 2-0 to visiting Fitchburg State University on Saturday at Alumni Field in Leicester.


The Falcons of Fitchburg State (2-0) got on the board in the 34th minute when senior midfielder Ibrahima Male (Pawtucket, R.I./CCRI) headed in a perfect cross from sophomore forward Hassan Koroma (Millbury, Mass./Millbury) to put the Falcons up 1-0. Then in the 66th minute, freshman forward Yannick DePina (Boston, Mass./Madison Park) scored off a pass from senior defender Thomas Mahlert (North Oxford, Mass./Quinsigamond CC). The insurance goal proved all the Falcons would need.


The Hawks of Becker (1-2) got nine saves out of freshman goalkeeper Sam Majewski (Warren, Mass. / Quaboag Regional Middle).


The Falcons held a 26-6 advantage in shots.


Becker is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Mount Ida College to face the Mustangs in a 4:00 p.m. game. Fitchburg State hosts Regis College in their next contest on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
