Men's Tennis Falls To Mitchell 8-1

WATERFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College men’s tennis team captured an 8-1 victory over Becker College on Saturday afternoon at Leary Park.

Mitchell (5-0 overall, 3-0 NECC) won two of three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 advantage. The team of Kyle Carmona and Rocco Devona won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while Chris White and Adam Samuels captured an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 position. Becker (2-3 overall, 2-2 NECC) took the No. 2 singles match by an 8-5 final thanks to the duo of Snjezan Telebak and Jake Gilbert.

The Mariners sealed the victory by sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. The closest contests came at the No. 5 and 6 spots, where Samuels defeated Tim Howard (6-2, 7-5) and Alamin Ripon took down Branden Parkhouse (7-6, 6-1).

Becker will next play at UMass-Dartmouth on Monday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. Mitchell returns to action at home against Albertus Magnus College on Monday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
