Lady Hawks Sweep WildCats

Leicester, Mass – The Becker College Lady Hawks swept a doubleheader from Wheelock College today in New England Collegiate Conference softball action. The game scores were 14-2 and 8-0. The Hawks improve to 5-13 (2-2 NECC) while Wheelock drops to 1-15, (1-3 NECC).

In game one Felica Laufner (East Lyme, Conn.) went 3 for 4 with a homerun and 5 RBI’s. Senior Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, Mass.) went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s. Pitcher Jessica Lewis (Bellingham, Mass.) picked up the win and had four strikeouts.

Wheelock was led by Jacky Hull (Braintree, Mass.) who went 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

In game two the Hawks scored 4 unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 8-0 win. Lindsay Hanna (Portland, ME) had a 3-run homerun in the inning. Rachel Weidele (Woodbridge, NJ) paced the Hawks with three hits. Pitcher Paige Needham (Worcester, Mass.) had 4 strikeouts and picked up the shutout.
