Softball Soars Over Green Mountain

Leicester, Mass.- Becker College defeated Green Mountain 16-5 and 9-0 in women’s softball action.

In game won the Hawks overcame an early 3-0 deficit to earn their first win of the 2010 season. Sophomore Rachel Weidele (Woodbridge, NJ.) led the Hawks by going four for five with three runs scored.  Junior Felicia Laufer (Salem, Conn.) scored four runs from the leadoff spot. Jessica Lewis (Bellingham, Mass.) pitched six innings, allowing five runs on six hits to earn the victory

In game two the Hawks scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning, on their way to the sweep. Amanda Fogaren (Tewksbury, Mass.) put the game out of reach with a grand slam over the left centerfield fence.  Freshman Paige Needham (Worcester, Mass.) pitched five strong innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three. With the wins the Hawks improved to 2-8 on the season.
