Softball Falls to Albertus Magnus, Montreat

Myrtle Beach, S.C. --- Becker Softball dropped two games on Wednesday, falling short 6-3 to Albertus Magnus before taking a 9-1 loss against Montreat.

Facing the Falcons, the Hawks rallied from down to runs in the bottom of the first, using a 2-run homer to left field by Talan Barron (Methuen, Mass.) to take a 3-2 lead. Becker could not hold on, however, allowing three unanswered runs. Barron went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Jessica Brochu (Hardwick, Vt.) went 2-for-3 at the plate. Megan Bolduc (Dover, N.H.) had a hit, a stolen base and took advantage of an Albertus Magnus fielding error to score the first run of the game. Melissa Rhodes (Mendon, Mass.) struck out three Falcons in three innings of relief.

The Cavaliers of Montreat scored early and often against the Hawks, putting up five runs in the bottom of the second and taking a 7-0 lead at one point. Becker attempted to get back in the game in the top of the sixth, when Lauren Lavalle (Millbury, Mass.) stole second and later reached home on an error. Bolduc, Megan Cordon (Watertown, Mass.), Kaitlyn Kenney (Woodstock, Conn.) and Sara Roth (Littleton, Mass.) each finished with hits.

Becker plays again on Thursday when they take the field against Mount Saint Vincent and Gettysburg.
