Softball ends Spring Break Trip

LEESBURGH, Fla. --- The Becker College softball team lost the final two games of their spring break trip in Florida with losses to Bowdoin College, 9-1, and Kalamazoo College, 5-0.

 

First against the Polar Bears, Becker got on the board in the top of the third when junior pitcher Samantha Lee (Prospect, Conn. / Woodland) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in junior outfielder Jennifer Boxell (Marlborough, Mass. / Marlborough). Junior infielder Rebecca Carkhuff (Amherst, Mass. / Amherst) and sophomore second baseman Alexzandra Casaw (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) had base hits for the Hawks.

 

Facing the Hornets, sophomore catcher Megan Klemanchuck (Pawtucket, R.I. / William E. Tolman) had two hits while Carkhuff added another. Senior first baseman Ashley Ciepiela (Adams, Mass. / Hoosac Valley) walked twice. Sophomore first baseman Samantha Belenchia (Ansonia, Conn. / Ansonia) gave up just two earned runs in seven innings.

 

The Hawks of Becker wrap up their spring break with a 2-8 record. The team is scheduled to be back on the field on March 26th when they play an NECC double-header at Lesley University.
