Softball drops two in the Sunshine state

CLERMONT, Fla. --- The Becker College softball team lost two games at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, on Thursday. The Hawks fell 15-3 to the Huskies of Southern Maine before being shut out 5-0 to the Lasers of Lasell College.

TOP HAWKS
• Junior third baseman Lauren Niemann (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) went three-for-four at the plate, including an RBI single against Southern Maine. Niemann also recorded a team-high six putouts.
• Freshman outfielder Elizabeth Simonian (Auburn, Mass. / Auburn) finished two-for-two with an RBI double.
• Sophomore second baseman Alyssa Columb (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) had a hit and two walks.
• Freshman pitcher Ashley Veillette (Danielson, Conn. / Killingly) tallied five strikeouts over six innings against Lasell.

UP NEXT
The Hawks complete their trip to Florida on Friday when they play Simpson College and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
