Women's Basketball Sinks Eagles, 79-66
LEICESTER, Mass –Fourth seeded Becker College defeated fifth seeded Daniel Webster College 79-66 in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball playoff action Tuesday evening. The win lifts the Hawks record to 11-15, while Eagles season comes to end with a record of 11-15.
Daniel Webster sophomore Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) led all scorers with a game high 23 points, going five for seven from three point range. Teammates Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) and Ariel Guzman (Yonkers, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 and ten points respectively.
Becker had four players finish in double figures, including senior Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) who scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds off the bench. Classmate Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.) tallied a team high 20 points. Haley Ooms (Valatie, N.Y.) contributed 12 points and a game best 15 rebounds to earn a double-double. Junior Brooke Martel also finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and 11 boards.
The Hawks return action on Friday, February 28 when they travel to top seeded Regis College at 6:00 p.m.
