LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's basketball team lost 69-60 to visiting Elms College on Thursday night in NECC action at the Leicester Gymnasium.
Junior guard Mackenzie LaRochelle (Chicopee, Mass. (Chicopee Comp.)) led the Blazers of Elms (12-8, 10-3 NECC) with 24 points, shooting 10 of 13 from the floor and pulling down seven boards. Freshman guard Molly Moulton (North Adams, Mass. (Drury)) contributed 15 points while senior guard Emily Burr (East Hartford, Conn. (East Hartford)) finished with 13 points and dished out four assists. Senior forward Alexandra Marques (Newington, Conn. (Newington)) had a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Hawks of Becker (9-9, 9-3 NECC) were led by sophomore guard Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) with 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists. Freshman guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) finished with 14 points, while sophomore forward Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn. / Hill Regional Career) posted a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guards Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J. / Toms River) and Erin Gaudette (Spencer, Mass. / David Prouty) each added five points.
Becker would take their largest lead of the game with 3:06 left in the second quarter when Anderson hit a three-pointer to put the Hawks up 31-22. At the half Becker led, 38-29.
The Blazers of Elms rallied in the second half, however, outscoring the Hawks 21-8 in the third quarter, and never giving up the lead again.
Becker will look to bounce back on Saturday when the travel to Lesley University for a 1:00 p.m. game. Elms also plays Lesley in their next game, that coming on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at home.
