BOSTON, Mass. Thursday night at Winsor Court, the Wheelock women's basketball team suffered a 55-34 loss to Becker College. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 3-8 (3-4 NECC) while the Hawks improve to 8-6 (4-2 NECC).

How it happened:
The Wildcats got the early jump on the Hawks with a 5-0 run, including a three by the freshman guard Holly O'Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.). However, the Hawks responded with a 10-0 run, and a three of their own from junior guard Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J.), to claim the lead.

Becker applied a full court press that proved to be costly for the young Wildcats in the start of the second half. The Hawks' pressure created several key turnovers which propelled them into a 9-0 run. Wheelock's Katie Walsh (East Islip, N.Y.) and Gaby Haywood's (East Longmeadow, Mass.) combined for 5 points to head into the half trailing, 28-14.

Coming out of halftime, Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn.) sank a jumper from the left side of the net before the Hawks' aggressive defense went on the attack. Becker held the Wildcats to only 7 points in the third quarter, giving the visitors a 17-point lead heading into the final frame. Ultimately, Wheelock was unable to hold of the attacking Hawks and the 4th quarter comeback fell short. Becker's Dowdy continued to build on their lead late in the 4th to give the Hawks the 55-34 victory.
