Women's Hoops flies past Lynx, 71-49

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's basketball team won 71-49 over visiting Lesley University in New England Collegiate Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The Hawks of Becker (11-7, 7-3 NECC) were led by junior forward Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn. / Hill Regional Career) with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Junior guard Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J. / Toms River) had a season-high of 12 points, shooting four-of-eight from behind the arc. Freshman guard Allie Ablondi (Thompson, Conn. / Tourtellotte Memorial) came off the bench to score ten points with four steals in just 16 minutes. Sophomore guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) posted 10 points with four steals while freshman guard Jazlyn Contreras (Pawtucket, R.I. / St. Mary Academy Bay View) scored ten points off just three field-goal attempts, along with three assists and three steals. Collectively, Becker finished with 19 steals.

The Lynx of Lesley (3-14, 3-6 NECC) were led by sophomore forward Dakota Jones (Torrance, Calif. / West High / West) with ten points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass. / Mount Saint Charles) came off the bench to score 10 points. Junior forward Abby Henderson (Rochester, N.H. / Spaulding) scored five points with seven boards.

Down early on in the game, Becker used a 10-0 rally to storm into a lead that they never relinquished, capped off with a three-pointer from Harrison with 2:10 to go in the first quarter. The Hawks led 34-21 going into halftime, and extended that advantage to as much as 24 points late in the third. The Becker reserves played out most of the fourth quarter.

Becker will be back on the court for their next game on Tuesday when the team travels to Southern Vermont College to take on the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Lesley hosts Dean College on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m.
