LEICESTER, Mass. --- Senior forward Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) of the Becker College women's basketball team has been named the Becker Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 13th, 2019.
McKissick led Becker to a 3-0 week, highlighted by her second career triple-double during Thursday night's victory over Dean. The senior team captain finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, two blocks and two steals. This came a mere two nights after McKissick assisted on a game-winning three from junior guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) in the Hawk's 45-43 win at Eastern Nazarene. For the week, McKissick averaged 10.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.
As of press time, the senior team captain leads the NECC in assists per game at 5.3, despite playing at forward. It is the fourth time this season that a player from the women's basketball team has been named the Becker Athlete of the Week. The Hawks are currently 9-5 overall and 6-1 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play, tied for second in the conference standings.
McKissick accounts for both triple-doubles in the history of the program. She previously had one last season when she led the Hawks to a 78-72 win over visiting Mount Ida College, on January 2nd, 2018.
Up next for the Hawks, the team hosts Southern Vermont College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
