Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Ravens In Opener

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.- The Becker College women's ice hockey team dropped their inaugural game to Franklin Pierce University 7-1 on Saturday afternoon at the New England Sports Center.

The Ravens (2-0) got on the board 2:45 into the game when Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) scored her first of four goals after putting back a rebound in front.  Senior Francesca Paciello (Clinton, N.Y.) netted what proved to be the game winner 48 seconds later when she scored on a loose puck in front.  Ketterman scored the first of three power play goals at 16:10 of the first period, sending the Ravens into the first intermission with a 3-0 advantage.

Ketterman completed the hat-trick 7:36 into the second period on another power play goal, with the assists coming from Michelle Holmes (Goffstown, N.H.) and Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.).  Ketterman tickled the twine for the fourth time at the 17:40 mark to give the Ravens a commanding 5-0 lead.

Becker (0-1) freshman Bailey Coons (Casper, Wyo.) made history with 1:07 remaining in the second stanza when she tallied the first goal in program history. Coons was assisted by Gina Beth Manganiello (Peabody, Mass.) and Claudia Gee (Randolph, Vt.).

Bryana Harron (Woburn, Mass.) capped off the Franklin Pierce scoring with two goals in the third period to make the final 7-1.

Franklin Pierce returns to the ice on Friday, October 6th for their home opener against Saint Anselm at 7:00 p.m. The Ice Hawks hit to the road to begin Colonial Hockey Conference action on Saturday, October 7th against Stevenson University at 5:15 p.m.
