Wildcats Nip Women's Ice Hockey, 2-1

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Becker College women's ice hockey team fell to Johnson & Wales 2-1 in Colonial Hockey Conference action Saturday evening. The loss drops the Ice Hawks record to 2-6 (1-5 CHC) while the Wildcats improve to 3-4 (2-4 CHC).

All three of the goals were scored in the second period of action.  Johnson & Wales got on the board 2:15 into the stanza when Kathryn Mason (Grafton, Mass.) found the back of the net with assists from Summer Britton (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Caitlin Sweet (Calgary, Alberta). Mason would assist on what proved to be the game winner with a feed to Molly Gray (Bozeman, Mont.) 8:19 into the period.

Becker would cut the Wildcats lead in half when Michaela Martin (Sheldon, Vt.) put back a loose puck in front on an assist from Hannah Elmer (Chicopee, Mass.) with 12 seconds remaining in the period.

Despite outshooting the Wildcats 29-21 in the game, the Ice Hawks failed to find the back of the net in the third period.

Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) made 27 stops in net for Becker while Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) had 20 saves for Johnson & Wales.

Becker will return to action on Friday, December 2nd when they travel to Nichols College for a 4:40 p.m. tilt with the Bison.
