CANTON, N.Y.- Becker College fell to SUNY Canton 5-1 in Colonial Hockey Conference women's hockey action Sunday afternoon. The win lifts the Kangaroos record to 10-10-1 (4-4-0 CHC) while the Ice Hawks fall to 7-13-2 (1-9-0 CHC).
Canton got the scoring started 8:43 into the first period when Tess Adams fed Kaylah Menchaca for her first goal of the season. With 1:34 remaining in the opening period, Adams earned her second point of the game when she found the back of the net on an assist from Margret Troiano.
The Ice Hawks would cut the Canton lead in half 13 seconds later when Bailey Coons tallied her team-best 11th maker of the season.
Unfortunately, the Becker excitement was short lived as Jessica Pele put the Kangaroos in front 3-1 with her 8th goal of the season with just 12 seconds remaining in the opening period
Pele scored the lone goal of the second period, upping the Canton lead to 4-1.
Tess Adams secured her fourth point of the afternoon; 2:04 into the third period, making the final score 5-1.
The Ice Hawks return to action on Friday, February 10th when they begin a crucial CHC series at Salem State beginning at 7:00 p.m.
