Women's Hockey Earns Crucial CHC Victory Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass.- Becker College earned a crucial 4-2 victory over Salem State University in Colonial Hockey Conference women's action Friday evening. The win lifts the Ice Hawks record to 8-13-2 (2-9-0 CHC) while the Vikings sink to 3-17-0 (1-8 CHC).

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead 6:31 into the first period when Jacqueline Sindoris netted a power-play goal on a pass from Casie Curtin.

The Ice Hawks tied the game 3:21 later on a Michaela Martin (Sheldon, Vt.) shorthanded goal.

After a scoreless second period, Becker took a 2-1 advantage when Bailey Coons (Casper, Wyo.) fed Claudia Gee (Randolph, Vt.) for her seventh maker of the season 12:44 into the final stanza.

The excitement was short lived for the Ice Hawks as Alley Webster tied the game for the Vikings 1:49 later with a power-play goal on a pass from Kayla Kopinski.

The scored was knotted up at 2-2 until Brittany Aiello (Franklin Park, Ill.) scored what proved to be a game winner for the Ice Hawks with 3:39 remaining in regulation. Aiello then put the icing on the cake with an empty net goal with 15 seconds remaining to make the final score 4-2.

Becker goalie Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) made 33 saves in the victory.
