WICE - 11/10/17

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team lost 2-1 to visiting Nichols College on Friday night at the Fidelity Worcester Ice Center in Worcester.

The Bison of Nichols (2-1, 2-1 CCC) were on a power-play 12:15 into the first period when junior forward Kelly Ferreira (North Falmouth, Mass. / Falmouth) launched a pass from behind the net, finding freshman forward Mel McAleer (Hanson, Mass. / Whitman-Hanson / Silver Lake) who shot the puck through a screen for her second goal of the season.

The Hawks of Becker (0-4, 0-1 CCC) pulled the goalie with 42 seconds remaining in the third, but Nichols took advantage when Ferreira scored an empty-netter, assisted by junior team captain Mikayla Castro (Killingworth, Conn. / Canterbury).

Finally, with just 16 seconds remaining, Becker junior forward Claudia Gee (Randolph, Vt. / Vermont Shamrocks) found junior forward Bailey Coons (Casper, Wyo. / Team Wyoming) for the score, Coons' first of the year.

Becker junior goalie Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo. / Dallas Stars Elite) continued her stellar play in net, recording 47 saves off 48 shots. Nichols junior goalkeeper Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass. / Norton) finished with 17 saves. The Bison outshot the Ice Hawks, 49-18.
