Women's Hockey Falls to USM in Overtime, 2-1

Bailey Coons netted her sixth goal of the season in a 2-1 overtime loss to Southern Maine.

GORHAM, MAINE – The Becker College women's hockey team fell to the University of Southern Maine in overtime, 2-1 on Friday evening at the USM Ice Arena. The win lifts the Huskies record to 5-11, while the Hawks fall to 2-11-2.

After a scoreless first period, Bailey Coons (Casper, Wyo.) put the Hawks on the board 8:29 into the second for her sixth goal of the season.

USM would tie the game at the 16:56 mark of the second when Julia Ormsby and Rylie Binette connected with Shannon Colbet to knot the game at 1-1.

After skated through a scoreless third, Rylie Binette gave the Huskies the win just 1:29 into overtime on a pass from Jensen Hamblett.

Becker goaltender Julia Johnson (Littleton, Colo.) suffered the loss after turning away 27 shots.

The two teams will conclude their home and home series tomorrow night at the Worcester Ice Center  at 8:00 p.m.
