Southern Maine edges Women's Ice Hockey, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team lost 1-0 to visiting University of Southern Maine on Saturday evening at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

The Huskies of Southern Maine (6-11) got on the board first, with an unassisted goal from sophomore forward Amanda Piknick (Hyannis, Mass. / Barnstable) just 7:59 into the first period. It was Piknick's fourth goal of the season. Junior goalie Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, RI / Junior Blades) finished with 35 saves in the shutout victory.

The Hawks of Becker (2-12-2) got 19 saves from junior goalie Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo. / Dallas Stars Elite).

Becker outshot Southern Maine, 35-20.

The Hawks are back on the ice on Tuesday night when they host Post University at 7:00 p.m. The Huskies face the University of New England at home on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
