Women's Ice Hockey Blanks SUNY Canton, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team won 1-0 over visiting SUNY Canton on Friday night in Colonial Hockey Conference play at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Junior goalie Julia Johnson (Littleton, Colo. / Walpole Express) was dominant in net for the Hawks of Becker (4-15-3, 2-4-3 CHC), recording 45 saves between the pipes.

After two scoreless periods, Becker junior forward Catherine McShera (Marston Mills, Mass. / Cape Cod Storm) came through 7:40 into the third period when she pounced on a loose puck in front of the Canton goal, putting it through to put Becker up 1-0 with an assist to junior defenseman Elysabeth Jefferies (Lisbon Falls, Maine / Hebron Academy). It was McShera's second goal of the season.

SUNY Canton sophomore goalie Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON / Clarington Flames) finished with 13 saves. The Kangaroos outshot the Hawks on the night, 45-14.

Becker and SUNY Canton will play again in Worcester on Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:20 p.m.
