Lady Hawks Clipped By Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Laura Chiricosta (Lexington) scored 10 goals to lead Westfield State College to a resounding 27-11 victory over Becker College in women's lacrosse action on Tuesday, March 31.

Westfield State improves its record to 6-1 and 2-0 in the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWL); Becker drops to 3-5 and 0-2

Westfield jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the opening 15 minute. Becker regrouped to close within three goals before Westfield turned up the heat to pull away with a 15-7 lead at the half and never looked back.

Freshman Nicole Dipilato (Shrewsbury) had six goals and two assists for the Owls and Rachel Dionne (Feeding Hills) chipped in five goals and four assists.

Ally Brown (Andover) and Kasey Rogers (West Springfield) each added a pair of goals to aid the Westfield State effort.

Freshman Nicole Lijana (Moorestown, NJ) led Becker with six goals and an assist. Jennifer Ouellette and Morgan Hazen each added a pair in the losing effort for Becker.

Westfield State outshot Becker 44-26. Becker goalie Alena Phongsa had 13 saves while Westfield State freshman goalie Kaity Burns had nine saves in the winning effort.
