Women's Lacrosse Wins Opener

March 13th, 2010 – (Castleton, VT) – The visiting Becker College Hawks tallied six unanswered goals spanning both halves to claim an 11-7 victory over Green Mountain College in women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.  The contest, played at Castleton State’s Spartan Stadium, was the season opener for both teams.

 

After jumping out to a 2-0 lead just 1:28 into the first half, the Eagles we held scoreless throughout the remainder of the half while conceding five-straight to the visitors.  Becker sophomore Morgan Hazen (Woodstock, VT) tallied three of her game-high five goals while Renee Landry (Acton, ME) notched a pair during in the opening 30 minutes. 

 

Bryanna Astor (Milltown, NJ) tallied her first collegiate goal with 22:47 remaining in the contest bringing the home side within a pair at 5-7, but Becker regained control with four-straight. 

 

Amanda Malkin (Barrylakes, NJ) lead the Eagle’s with three goals, five draw controls, and one helper while net minder Kelsy Allan (Jupiter, FL) stopped 16 of the 34 shots she faced.  

 

Hazen powered the Hawks with five goals on eight shots while adding an assist and scooping six ground balls.  Lindsey Peluso (Dudley, MA) notched 10 saves in goal for the Hawks.
