Women's Lacrosse Soars In NECC Opener

LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College opened the inaugural season of women's lacrosse in the New England Collegiate Conference with a 13-6 win over Elms College at Alumni Field. The win lifts the Hawks to 3-7 (1-0 NECC), while the Blazers fall to 2-6 (0-1 NECC).

The Hawks were led by junior Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) who scored a game high six goals. Freshman Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, N.Y.) added a hat-trick and Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, N.J.) chipped in with two goals and an assist.  

Becker goalie Shelby Wicks (Shartsbury, Vt.) made six saves.

Elms was carried by sophomore Lauren Mazza (Agawam, Mass.) who scored five of the of the Blazers six goals. Cathy Duquette (Naples, Maine.) scored the final goal for the Blazers.

Elms goalie Alysha Parsons (Newington, Conn.) made 15 saves in a losing effort.

Becker returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 when they host Rhode Island College at 6:30 p.m. The Blazers will travel to Mass. Maritime on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m.
