Regis College Tops Becker College 2-0

Weston, Mass.-Regis College (1-4, 0-1 TCCC) defeated Becker College (1-4, 1-2 NECC) 2-0 Wednesday. The Pride's first goal would come from Megan Roan (Whitman, Mass.) at 73:46. Roan's goal would go unassisted as she broke away from her defender, and slid her shot under the keeper's arms.

Roan finished with nine total shots, with four being on goal. She also led all players in shots on goal with nine total. Voula Laskaris (Belmont, Mass.) would also score for the Pride. Her goal would come from 25-yards out, and off of a rebound shot from Shannon Tonelli (Easthampton, Mass.).

Kendra Creonte (Waltham, Mass.) would add to the Pride's attack total, contributing with four shots of her own. Both Roan and Laskaris would find themselves in several one-on-one situations with Hawks keeper Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, Mass.)

Becker's Ashley deFigueiredo (Dartmouth, Mass.) would attempt to put the Hawks in contention with taking three shots on goal. At one point DeFigueiredo would find herself with an open shot from the left side, but keeper Jackie Sullivan (Naples, FL) would halt any success.

Tibbetts would pickup eight saves on the night for Becker College. Regis College fought hard throughout game, even with the Hawks maintaining possession of the ball for most of the second period. Both teams played aggressively, with each showing signs of fatigue. However, Regis would push through to keep the ball in its play as the clock expired.

This is the Pride's first win of the season, and will face Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday, September 20 at noon.
