Lady Hawks Defeat Mass. Maritime In OT

Leicester, Mass - After the women's soccer team had being outscored 8-0 in their previous two contests, the lady Hawks rallied to a 3-2 victory over Mass Maritime.
Mass Maritime got things started 13:02 into the first half when Colleen Welsh(Shelton, CT) scored an unassisted goal. The Hawks answered back just thirty eight seconds later when Catherine Millette(Columbia, CT) broke free down the right side scoring her first goal of the season. The Buccaneers took a 2-1 lead with 1:45 left in the half, when Colleen Welsh fed Rebecca Luciani(Wakefield, MA) across the middle for the score. The score stayed the same for the majority of the second half, until Alexandra Fernandes(Tucson, AZ) drove past the Maritime defense for her first collegiate goal. The teams took the 2-2 game into overtime when Ashley deFigueiredo (Dartmouth, MA) made a perfect pass to Alena Phongsa(Putnam, CT) to end the contest in sudden death.
 Emily Welsh(Shelton, CT) made twelve saves in a losing effort for Maritime, while Becker Goalkeeper Shannon Tibbetts(Warren, MA) made eight saves for the win. Box ScoreThe Lady Hawks(1-2) will try to stay on track when they face Albertus Magnus on Saturday at Alumni Field.
