Volleyball Sunk By Mariners In Season Finale 3-1

Leicester, Mass. - The Hawks of Becker College dropped their season finale at home to the Mariners of Mitchell three games to one on Friday in NECC conference action, with game scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-13.

After the Hawks took game one, the Mariners jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the second set. The Hawks would rally behind the serving of Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, CT), getting them back into the game, but Mitchell would pull away, winning 25-14. Game three would go little better for the Hawks, as Mitchell won 25-17. Game four's 25-13 result would see the end of the Hawks season.

Jaclyn Tempkins (Nashville, TN) led Mitchell with ten kills and two block assists. Nicole Terni (Ledyard, CT) filled the stat line with three kills, 18 set assists, ten service aces and seven digs. Gloria Charles (New Haven, CT) had five kills and four digs.

Chila led the Hawks with five kills, five service aces, 2.5 blocks and three digs. Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, MA) tallied four kills, one service ace and six digs. Nicole Morse (Alton, NH) had three kills.

Morse, the sole graduating senior on this season's team and the second all-time leader in career blocks, was recognized in a pre-game ceremony in honor of senior night.

The Hawks wrapped up their season with a 3-22 record with a 0-8 mark in the NECC. The Mariners of Mitchell finish their own season at 7-11 and 2-6 in conference.
