Dupree leads Women's Volleyball past Mass Maritime

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy in four sets on Tuesday night at the Leicester Gymnasium, prevailing 25-14, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16.

The Hawks of Becker (4-6) were once again led by junior middle blocker Kayla Dupree (North Bergen, N.J. / Bronx) with 15 kills and two service aces. Dupree hit .324 for the match. Sophomore right side Morgan Gould (North Attleboro, Mass. / Tri-County) hit a match-high .348 with nine kills, two aces and six digs. Senior setter Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) set up the offense with 39 set assists, four aces and 16 digs. Junior libero Courtney Cotnoir (Douglas, Mass. / Douglas) recorded a match-high 27 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass. / Weymouth) led the Buccaneers of Mass Maritime (1-10) with 15 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore libero Tina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass. / Bourne) recorded 27 digs. Junior middle hitter Jennifer Roy (Attleboro, Mass. / North Attleboro) finished with eight kills.

After the Hawks took the first set, the Buccaneers rallied to stun the hosts in the second set, coming from behind down 23-21 with four straight points. Becker recovered, however, edging Maritime 25-22 in the third and closing out 25-16 in the fourth set.

Becker will be back on the court on Thursday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth for a 6:00 p.m. matchup. Mass Maritime plays their next match at Dean on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
